Fatal accident at hydroelectric dam construction site 2024

Fatal accident involving a foreign construction worker of Chinese nationality happened on 1st of October 2020 at a hydroelectric construction site in Kapit, Sarawak. The worker was travelling back to the living quarters along with other colleagues when the accident happened, around 5.00 pm. The accident happened while they were on board of a shovel which was travelling down the hill road before the shovel flipped and hit the worker resulted in hit death. His other colleagues who were on board together with him were injured and treated in hospital.

Investigation teams from DOSH Sarawak issued two notices to the contractors to implement additional improvement plan and to conduct further investigation in identifying root causes of the accident.
