ABOUT THE COURSE
Chemical management in a factory is very important in ensuring that improper handling and uncontrolled exposure to chemicals can be prevented. It will also prevent safety-related incidents such as spills, splashes and explosions as well as occupational diseases from occurring. It is crucial for employees who are dealing directly with chemicals to be equipped with the knowledge on how to handle and manage chemicals appropriately, in line with the prevailing regulations and to protect themselves as well as others.
Recognizing the importance and complexity of chemical management, this one-day training is structured to provide insight into systematic and effective chemical safety management in the workplace.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
- At the end of this training, participants will be able to:
- Understand the requirements, needs and concept of chemical safety in Occupational Safety and Health management.
- Familiarize with the definitions of OHS terms related to chemicals.
- Gain knowledge of chemical hazards and their identification.
- Understand related legal requirements of chemical safety i.e. OSHA Act 1994, USECHH 2000, CLASS 2013.
- Understand the requirements of the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) of classification and labelling of chemicals.
- Understand the best practices in applying the hierarchy of hazard control (Elimination, Substitution, Isolations, Engineering Control, Administration Control and PPE) for chemical hazards at the workplace.
