ABOUT THE COURSE
Basic Rigging and Slinging oversees the initial work of erecting the load and ensures that all rigging work is carried out in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to the regulation and to sound established customs and practices. His first consideration must always, be directed toward safeguarding life and limb. This consideration must extend to all persons in the vicinity or likely to enter the vicinity. Two days of Basic Rigging and Slinging training is specially designed for a participant who works at activities where slinging and rigging is required in the crane operation including working at height. The training aimed to help participants understand the hazard and risk of working at height and how to prevent falling accidents including enhancing the competency of riggers in rigging and slinging activities.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
- At the end of this training, participants will be able to:
- Observe general safety-first rules and carry out his duties in a safe and responsible manner.
- Have knowledge of the safe working load of the crane he is working with.
- Have full knowledge of hand signal (API Standard and Australian Standard and BS 7121-1: 2006 Part 1: General: Code of Practice for safe use of cranes) & UoC CPCCLRG3001A.
- Understand the correct type of sling, hook shackle, etc. for the load.
- Have knowledge of the use of lifting beams, slings, and chains.
- Understand the use of rope, chain, and shackle.
- Understand not to use damaged wire rope or fiber rope, slings, or chains where the links are not free or kinked wire rope.
- Understand when slinging a load, pack between sling and load at all points where the load has sharp corners, so as to prevent damage to the sling.
