Hearing Conservation Program Training

Hearing Conservation Program Training

ABOUT THE COURSE
Noise, or unwanted sound, is one of the most common health problems in industrial workplaces. Employees in industries are exposed to hazardous noise. Exposure to high levels of noise may cause hearing loss, create physical and psychological stress, reduce productivity, interfere with communication, and contribute to accidents and injuries by making it difficult to hear warning signals. The Occupational Safety and Health Act requires employers to provide and maintain working environment that is safe and without health risk as well as adequate welfare facilities. In addition, requirements were also made under the Factory and Machinery (Noise Exposure) Regulations 1989 to ensure workers are protected from excessive noise in the workplace. Therefore, the employers must implement feasible engineering or administrative controls to eliminate or reduce hazardous levels of noise. Whereby controls are insufficient, employers must implement an effective hearing conservation program.

COURSE OBJECTIVES
Among the objectives of the training are as follows:-
• Describe the major elements of a Hearing Conservation Program (HCP)
• Manage noise related problems at work as well as the integration of HCP into overall health and safety programme.
• Investigate alternative control measures, including engineering and administrative controls.
• Evaluate the usage, care and maintenance of correct hearing protection equipment.
• Understand the best practice to conduct the noise exposure monitoring at Site

At the end of the program, participants will be more aware on the risk that is associated with high level of noise and also understand on the control measure/ preventive steps that can be taken to avoid the development of Noise Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL) diseases.
