Hearing Protection Headset

About The COurse

Noise, or unwanted sound, is one of the most common hazards in industrial workplaces. Exposure to high noise levels may cause hearing loss, create physical and psychological stress, reduce productivity, interfere with communication, and contribute to accidents and injuries by making it difficult to hear warning signals.

The Occupational Safety and Health Act requires employers to provide and maintain a working environment that is safe and without health risk as well as adequate welfare facilities. In addition, requirements were also made under the Occupational Safety and Health (Noise Exposure) Regulations 2019 to ensure workers are protected from excessive noise in the workplace.

Therefore, employers must implement feasible engineering or administrative controls to eliminate or reduce hazardous levels of noise. Whereby controls are insufficient, employers must implement an effective hearing conservation program.

At the end of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the major elements of a Hearing Conservation Program (HCP)
  • Manage noise-related problems at work and the integration of HCP into the overall health and safety program.
  • Investigate alternative control measures, including engineering and administrative controls.
  • Evaluate the usage, care, and maintenance of correct hearing protection equipment.
  • Understand the best practice to conduct noise exposure monitoring at the premise.
