Ergonomics is the study of a working person’s environment and how one can eliminate and/or decrease sources of discomfort and risks of injury. The Department of Occupational Safety & Health (DOSH) introduced “Guidelines on Ergonomics Risk Assessment at Workplace” in 2017 with the purpose of implementing a methodical plan for recognising, assessing, and regulating ergonomic risk factors pertaining to workplace activities.

Here at MySHEQA, we endeavor to assist companies across Malaysia in reinforcing DOSH’s ergonomic guidelines at their own workplaces as best as we can. We offer Initial and Advanced Ergonomic Risk Assessments (ERA) or consultations.

WHY Ergonomics Risk Assessment (ERA)

An Initial ERA is required to be carried out if at least one of these four conditions occur;

After the Initial ERA is conducted, an Assessment Report should be prepared. If the Assessment Report contains a recommendation for an Advanced ERA, then an Advanced ERA should be carried out too. Next, another Assessment Report should be completed and the reports should be handed to the relevant stakeholders. Finally, the employees should be told of the risk and the ergonomic hazard should be fixed.

Ergonomics Trained Person Course

An Ergonomics Trained Person (ETP) is a trained person certified by DOSH, who has undergone Ergonomics Risk Assessment (ERA) training and can administer the assessment and/or conduct in-house training for other employees. MySHEQA collaborates with a trusted licensed partner in order to provide you with the necessary experience and ETP credentials

There are two types of ETP programs. Initial ETP training allows ETPs to conduct Initial ERAs. Advanced ETP training authorises ETPs to administer Advanced ERAs, if the Initial ERA results in a recommendation for an Advanced ERA.
