The World Health Organization declared COVID-19 a pandemic on the 12 March 2020
due to the increasing cases of infections worldwide. Therefore, the Ministry of Health Malaysia
(MOH) and the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH), Ministry of
Human Resources have provided management guidelines for workplace including new
normal practices that need to be addressed.
According to the guidelines, the role of employers and employees are crucial to ensure success in fostering the new normal practices such as social distancing, hygiene practices, coughing and sneezing etiquettes, handshake policies and so on. As a matter of fact, non-conformity to the new normal practices can increase the risk of premise closure in the event of new COVID-19 infections or public complaints of non-compliance.
